150th Anniversary Celebration
Köttgen Celebrates 150 Years of Innovation and Tradition in Intralogistics
Kerpen – In a festive event, KÖTTGEN Service GmbH celebrated the company’s 150th anniversary. The two managing directors, Dr. Thomas Kießling and Dr. Cornelius Uhl, reflected on a dynamic history in their speeches and praised Köttgen’s impressive development. The company was founded in 1874 as “KÖTTGEN Temperguss Kabelgarnitur.” Both emphasized the continuous adaptability and innovative strength that have carried the company through the decades.
“150 years ago, our journey began with the construction of the first commercially successful products, and since then we have achieved numerous successes together that have brought us to the present day,” said Dr. Thomas Kießling in his speech. He recalled significant historical events of the founding year, including the introduction of the first typewriter and the patenting of the first electric light bulb, symbolizing technological change. Since then, there have been several milestones in the company’s history, particularly the development of the curved shelf stacker cranes in 1972, which still shape Köttgen’s business today.
“We have evolved from simple transport devices to a provider of complex logistics systems,” Kießling continued. Looking to the future, Köttgen announced significant investments to respond to the sustainably positive development of automation in intralogistics. “We are firmly convinced that automation will determine our future. Through our own developments in mechanical engineering, we want to offer our end customers first-class solutions,” explained Cornelius Uhl.
Another important step into the future is the acquisition of a new property, which will enable the company to implement its expansion plans and further strengthen its position as an attractive employer. Finally, Cornelius Uhl and Thomas Kießling thanked the employees for their commitment and tireless efforts. “Our success is the result of your dedication. Let us boldly look to the future together and build on our successes!”
Together, all employees, partners, and friends celebrated this special anniversary and toasted to the next 150 years.
